How we score
Every number on this site can be checked. Here is exactly how they are made.
Five criteria
Each game gets five scores out of 100. The final score is their weighted average, rounded to a whole number. No hidden adjustments, and nobody can pay for a score.
Tension, atmosphere and how much it feels like a real outbreak.
How good it is to actually play: combat, movement, decisions.
How quickly a new player can get into it: controls, difficulty, setup.
How many good hours or runs it gives before it runs out.
What you get for the US list price.
Example: Dying Light
- Survival feel 25%
- 93
- Gameplay 25%
- 92
- Easy to start 15%
- 86
- Replay 20%
- 88
- Value 15%
- 94
93 × 25% + 92 × 25% + 86 × 15% + 88 × 20% + 94 × 15% = 90.85 → 91
Tiers
90+
The pride of the collection. Play it.
85+
An excellent pick for most players.
80+
Great if it matches your taste. Check who it suits.
< 80
Only for specific tastes.
The threat level
A 1 to 5 estimate of how tense or frightening a typical session is, from Relaxed to Terrifying. It is not part of the score: some players want a cosy lawn defence, others want to hear footsteps in the dark.
The facts
Release dates, developers, publishers, player counts, co-op and cross-play support, US list prices and Steam Deck ratings come from Steam as of 8 Oct 2026. Threat level and survival time are editorial estimates.
Independence
We only cover games sold on Steam. No publisher can buy a score, a position or a place on a game-night list. Store links are plain links to Steam.
